Q: Why are you passionate about sustainability?

It was a short video about ocean pollution of plastic bags I watched during a high school ecology class that first caught my attention on environmental problems. I started to realize that anthropogenic pollution, climate change, and devastating natural resources are real. But I did not know how I, as a small individual, can do anything with it. Coming into college, at a environmental symposium, I saw students at my age doing small things but making huge impact on our campus and community. I was inspired by these people and their passion to make change. I decided to join SSC during my sophomore year and work on campaigns that might change people’s ideas forever. My largest goal in SSC is to let students to acknowledge that it is urgent to stop unsustainable practices, such as using styrofoam plates and using plastic shopping bags. I hope that through our collective effort, we can at least make our own campus a more sustainable and environment-friendly campus that can make impacts on our community, city, nation, and ultimately the world.

Q: What are some fun facts about yourself?

I am more adventurous than I look. I love roller coaster(I used to hate it when I was young) and I want to try every ride at Six Flags. I just learned how to surf at La Jolla beach this summer and now I fall in love with it. The next thing on my bucket list is to do sky diving before my graduation at gliderport!
